Hot yoga is one of those classes that have not only gotten a lot of attention over the last little while, but is an exercise that mentally makes you feel like your body is getting a workout (even though it may not really be helping you shed those last couple of pounds.) One of the benefits of hot yoga is being able to stretch a large range of muscle groups as well as perfecting posture, establishing balance, and strengthening your core.
Ali and I have agreed on attending sessions together to A) make ourselves feel like we're working towards a better body and B) Groupon had a wonderful deal on a 10-pass hot yoga pass. We're planning on going tomorrow to check it out -- hopefully neither of us passes out from the heat! The class we're planning to try out is "yin yoga" where poses are held for an extended period of time to target connective tissues, ligaments, joints, and bones. It is more of a restorative session than a strengthening or meditative experience so we'll see how it goes. Thankfully we have a 10-class pass to try out all the different classes and forms of yoga.
Stay tuned for posts on our hot yoga adventures and the pros and cons we feel come along with the new form of "exercise and relaxation"!
